See Jason Aldean’s Nostalgic ‘A Little More Summertime’ Video
Jason Aldean’s seventh studio album They Don’t Know is officially out today (September 9th) and the video for his song “A Little More Summertime” has premiered along with it. The song follows Aldean’s hard-rocking lead single “Lights Come On.”
Aldean’s wife Brittany Kerr co-stars in a narrative befitting the post-Labor Day close of summer, set right at the point when a beach town winds itself down for fall and winter. But the memories of a whirlwind romance linger for them both – long, hot days by the water transitioning into humid nights at the beachside carnival. And then just like the summer, it’s over. It’s unclear why they have to move on, but they’re both left wishing they could press pause.
With its echoing guitars and wistful story, “A Little More Summertime” is a departure from Aldean’s harder-edged material of late, but he sees it as more of a return.
“Sonically it was just a little different than anything we had done in the past,” he tells Rolling Stone Country. “And I feel like coming off of ‘Lights Come On’ it was just another one of those songs that told a story, something that I felt like we had somewhat gotten away from on the last record. And it had that nostalgia thing going on about it that I love.”
Aldean will headline a two-night stint at Boston’s Fenway Park on September 9th and 10th, along with special guest Kid Rock. He’ll also perform in the previously taped broadcast of the 10th annual ACM Honors, airing tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
