See Glen Campbell’s Daughter Ashley Preview Father’s Final Album

“Every time he sat down with a guitar, these were his go-to songs,” she says of Country Music Hall of Famer’s ‘Adiós’

Glen Campbell will release his final album, Adiós, on June 9th. The record is a bittersweet coda for the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s career, recorded in 2013 after he wrapped his Goodbye Tour. Campbell is currently in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Set for release on June 9th, the album features 12 of Campbell’s favorite songs, along with guest appearances by Willie Nelson, Vince Gill and Glen’s children Ashley, Shannon and Cal.

According to his daughter Ashley, the project stands as a heartfelt thank you and goodbye to his fans, via Campbell’s interpretations of some of his favorite songs, from “Funny How Time Slips Away” to “Everybody’s Talkin’.”

“Almost every time he sat down with a guitar, these were his go-to songs. He would sit down and sing ‘Don’t Think Twice,’ or play ‘A Thing Called Love.’ So they were very much engrained in his memory – like, so far back that they were one of the last things he started losing,” says Ashley.

Campbell’s daughter plays banjo on songs like “Arkansas Farmboy” and “A Thing Called Love,” and she and her brothers team up to sing one very special line in “Postcard From Paris.”

“I think it’s really special that his kids – my dad’s kids – sang on that,” she says, “because the line is ‘I wish you were here,’ and it couldn’t be more true or heartbreaking.”
