See Drake White’s Reggae Reinvention of ‘Makin’ Me Look Good Again’
Along with the release of Drake White’s new single “Makin’ Me Look Good Again,” the Alabama native has issued a video of a reggae-folk version of the tune. Filmed in Austin’s Zilker Park, White performs an acoustic rendition of the country-soul ballad with his band the Big Fire strumming a laidback reggae rhythm.
“I’ve often said if I was stranded and had one record to listen to for the rest of my life it would be Bob Marley’s Legend,” White says in a statement released with the video. “Simply because of the way my spirit feels when listening to it.”
The video is the second installment in White’s “Influences Sessions,” in which White performs his country music in the style of some of his favorite musical genres, including bluegrass and reggae.
After scoring two Top 40 hits with “It Feels Good” and “Livin’ The Dream,” “Makin’ Me Look Good Again” is White’s third single from his debut album Spark, released this past August. The song is set to ship to country radio early in December, and has already cracked the Top 50 of Billboard‘s Country Digital Song Sales charts.
White wraps up his 2016 fall tour November 29th in Madison, Wisconsin.
