See Dierks Bentley’s Sunny ‘Somewhere on a Beach’ Video
The video for Dierks Bentley’s “Drunk on a Plane” focused on the mile-high antics of a heartbroken guy getting blotto to feel better. Bentley’s latest video “Somewhere on a Beach” isn’t exactly a sequel, but it does pick up the narrative of a familiar character from “Drunk”: neck pillow-sporting “Josh” from across the aisle, who smooches the flight attendant in one of the wilder scenes.
“Somewhere on a Beach” opens on Josh, still sporting his purple-checked shirt and neck pillow as he exits a taxi alone in some tropical locale. Turns out he’s a bit of a wreck, chasing his anxiety medication with beer. But then he’s approached by a beautiful woman who — despite being more traditionally attractive — buys him shots and proceeds to seduce him. Bentley and band, drinking in an adjacent bar, watch in disbelief as it all goes down.
Thus the hero of this story shakes off his blues and anxiety in paradise, frolicking in the surf with his new love interest, getting a couples’ massage and — naturally — attending a Dierks Bentley concert. Bentley collaborator Wes Edwards directed the clip, which was filmed in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, outside Cancun.
“Somewhere on a Beach” is the lead single from Bentley’s eighth studio album Black, which does not as yet have a release date. He’ll co-host the ACM Awards with Luke Bryan on April 3rd, and then launch his 2016 Somewhere on a Beach tour May 12th in Holmdel, New Jersey with guests Randy Houser and Tucker Beathard.
