By now, Chris Stapleton has earned quite a reputation for giving monster awards show performances and his rendition of "Parachute" on the 2016 CMT Awards didn't disappoint.
Stapleton, who won the Breakthrough Video of the Year honor earlier in the evening, was joined on the stage by his usual touring band for the performance. To his left stood wife Morgane, and supporting him were harmonica player Mickey Raphael, producer Dave Cobb and multi-instrumentalist Robby Turner. With Stapleton's gravelly howls front and center, the song — from his Grammy-winning album Traveller — hurtled along with a relentless urgency.
Stapleton will be in Tennessee the next few days, where he is scheduled to perform on the Nissan Stadium stage on Friday, June 10th. He'll follow that up with a Saturday performance at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.
