See Carrie Underwood’s Sassy ‘Dirty Laundry,’ Chicken Dance on ‘Ellen’
No one delivers a cheating song quite like Carrie Underwood, as she proved once again on today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The country superstar made the TV debut of her hot-blooded new single, “Dirty Laundry” on the show, airing the secrets of an adulterer (and proving why guys really should pick up after themselves).
Penned by Zach Crowell, Ashley Gorley and Hillary Lindsey, the song starts with a woman finding her man’s lipstick- and red wine-stained, cheap perfume-smelling shirt crumpled up in a corner. She doesn’t wear that shade of pink and prefers Chardonnay to Cabernet, so he’s busted. The tempo and temper soar as she declares, “All the Ajax in the world ain’t gonna clean your dirty laundry.”
Underwood delivered an impassioned, vocally flawless (per usual) performance of the new song on ‘Ellen,’ showing off that confident swagger that has led to countless accolades like this year’s CMA Entertainer of the Year nod. But the beauty who can strut a stage like Mick Jagger found herself at a bit of a confidence loss during the interview segment.
Earlier in the show, comedic actor Seth Rogan played a new game with DeGeneres called “You Must Say,” in which he could dictate any interview question for Underwood, who was on deck. His choice: Tell her they’ve heard she’s great at the Chicken Dance and now’s her chance to prove it. Watch below as she’s baffled by the request and just barely complies.
Underwood has recently been named one of CMT’s 2016 Artists of the Year. That show is set for October 20th in Nashville, followed just a few days later by the singer’s ninth time co-hosting the CMA Awards with Brad Paisley.
