It’s been three months since an early version of Brett Eldredge’s “Drunk on Your Love” popped up in the wedding video for Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, serving as the soundtrack to a one-minute clip that included wedding footage and reception shenanigans. Since then, the song has received a serious makeover, with Eldredge replacing his original demo with a full-bodied studio version. In two weeks, it’ll hit the radio as the second single from Illinois, Eldredge’s newest album.
The Bring You Back singer is already playing the new song live. Last night, Eldredge and his five-piece band performed “Drunk on Your Love” on Jimmy Kimmel, beefing up the tune with gauzy keyboards, Les Paul guitar riffs and triple-stacked harmonies.
Eldredge, who co-wrote and co-produced the song with Ross Copperman, dressed down for the occasion, working a sleeveless jacket instead of his standard crooner’s suit. The performance itself was all class, however, introducing fans to a new single that could become Eldredge’s fifth chart-topper in a row.
