See Brett Eldredge Wreak Havoc in ‘Somethin’ I’m Good At’ Video

Singer leaves a trail of destruction in colorful clip, directed by Ethan Lader and shot in California

Brett Eldredge’s new song “Somethin’ I’m Good At” is easily identifiable by its opening floor tom rhythm, calling to mind “Lust for Life” in its exuberant, loping bounce. The video, out this morning, mirrors that energy, with Eldredge leaving a trail of destruction in his wake while simultaneously being a charming flirt.

The lyrics downplay his abilities: he can’t cook or change a flat and he’s as likely to burn the house down as he is successfully prepare toast. But he’s got an innate skill for making someone smile – a mission he pursues with zeal in the Ethan Lader-directed video, which was shot in California. In his haste to say hello to a woman on the sidewalk, he knocks over the mailman and sets off a chain reaction of mishaps that ends with his house ablaze. But there’s no room in this clip for regrets – it’s all about enjoying the moment and cutting loose, as evidenced by Eldredge’s freewheeling vocal take.

“I don’t even know exactly what space it fills, but when you hear it on the radio, you’ll know instantly that it’s that song,” he says. “It’s very unique in that way. It fills a space in music in general because it’s a song that I want you to smile at, I want you to not think about anything.”

Currently Eldredge is opening for Luke Bryan on the superstar’s Kill the Lights Tour, which visits New York’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 1st.
