See Brett Eldredge Don a Straitjacket in ‘Lose My Mind’ Video
In 2012, Brett Eldredge’s first Number One hit, “Don’t Ya,” was certified platinum. Three years later, the singer (and reigning CMA New Artist of the Year) has been certified insane thanks to “Lose My Mind,” the wigged-out new video for his latest single. Eldredge spends much of the clip strapped into a straitjacket as mental patient, and also features a leggy blonde (played by Victoria’s Secret model Rachel Hilbert) who is either a) a nurse, b) a maintenance worker c) a fellow patient in the asylum or d) a figment of Eldredge’s wild (and crazy?) imagination.
Expounding on the song’s mind-altered theme (a guy whose screws are coming loose thanks to a woman), the clap-happy tune, penned by Eldredge with Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan, even manages to evoke a bit of the 2006 Gnarls Barkley hit, “Crazy.” Eldredge was, quite literally, flying high when he dreamed up the concept for the video
“I’m a very high-strung guy, and I feel like I’m probably going crazy a lot of the time,” Eldredge tells People. “I just wanted to make a fun video, portraying the way a girl kinda makes you lose your mind and completely wraps all of your thoughts around her. Sitting on a plane, I literally started typing up how I thought it would be to do it, and here I am. You make it up and dream it and imagine it, and then you try to make it come true somehow.”
Eldredge, whose adventurous streak has seen him both shark-diving and sky-diving to celebrate his chart-topping hits, is more clear-minded when it comes to his real-world aspirations.
“I want to do a world tour,” the Illinois native tells Rolling Stone Country. “I want to go throughout the world and play all different sorts of places and see where this music can take me. I want to be in Italy and go to Venice to ride in one of those gondolas, with one of those crazy, opera-singing, striped-shirt guys that paddle the boat.”
“Lose My Mind” is the debut single from Eldredge’s sophomore album, due later this year.
