See Blake Shelton Tour Jimmy Fallon’s New Theme Park Ride

‘Tonight Show’ host guides ‘Voice’ coach through wild new attraction “Race Through New York”

Blake Shelton has experienced some new things in the presence of Jimmy Fallon: eating sushi, throwing random objects and performing popular songs while dressed as a chicken, to name a few. In the latest installment of their comfort zone-testing friendship, the Tonight Show host takes Shelton on a tour of his new Universal Orlando attraction, “Race Through New York.”

Opening April 6th, “Race Through New York” combines show history and a virtual tour with a simulator ride through the city. Shelton doesn’t seem to be impressed. “I only wanted to perform,” he insists at the beginning.

Along the way, they have numerous opportunities for good-natured bro jabs. Shelton spots his own visage on a promotional poster for The Voice, which is summarily ripped off the wall and replaced by a duplicate for NBC’s breakout drama This Is Us. They visit the museum with history of the show’s former hosts. “This is what I’m talking about. This is when the show was good, right here,” says Shelton, spying the Jay Leno exhibit. While waiting for their turn on the ride, Shelton grouses about having to stand in line watching movies.

“I’m just fascinated,” he says.

“What’s fascinating?” asks Fallon.

“How you ever became famous,” replies Shelton.

The ride itself proves to be considerably more satisfying for Shelton, who drops his usual aloof cowboy routine and yells unselfconsciously as the ride simulates a roller coaster’s dramatic dips and turns. “I almost needed to barf after that,” he tells Fallon, which sounds like high praise. Later in the show, he performed “Every Time I Hear That Song” for the Orlando crowd. Watch below.

Currently, Shelton is coaching performers on NBC’s The Voice, which airs Mondays and Tuesdays. In February, he released the video for “Every Time I Hear That Song,” from his latest album If I’m Honest.
