See Blake Shelton Sing Bitter ‘She’s Got a Way With Words’ on ‘Ellen’
As cleverly sarcastic as “She’s Got a Way With Words” is, Blake Shelton looked pretty serious performing the new song on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today.
“She put the S.O.B. in sober/She put the hang in hangover/She put the ex in sex/She put the low in blow/She put a big F.U. in my future/Yeah she’s got a way/She’s got a way with words,” he sang with an “F.U.” look in his eyes.
There has been inevitable speculation that the song is about Shelton’s ex-wife, Miranda Lambert. But he didn’t write the tune. That credit goes to Wyatt Earp, Andy Albert and Marc Beeson — who reportedly crafted “She’s Got a Way With Words” before the superstar couple’s divorce.
Still, Shelton sings the midtempo country tune with conviction, ditching his guitar to instead grasp the mic and deliver the biting lyrics like a guy who learned that hard way that “love” is a four-letter word.
“She’s Got a Way With Words” is on Shelton’s new If I’m Honest album, which hit stores last week.
