Blake Shelton’s latest hit “Gonna” is a sunny, straightforward tribute to the excitement of kickstarting a new relationship, and during a recent appearance on the Grand Ole Opry, the singer performed it with an extra dose of fire, as if he were celebrating the unknown promise of being single.
Onstage at the Opry, Shelton smiles and hams it up alongside his six-piece backup band, including vocalist Gwen Sebastian, who joined Miranda Lambert on the Opry stage just a few weeks earlier. He has a reason to be happy, too, despite an ongoing string of tabloid rumors surrounding his divorce from Lambert — he recently filed suit against one magazine for its claims. “Gonna,” which first hit stores in September 2014 as the fourth track (and, eventually, fourth single) on Bringing Back the Sunshine, will make a second appearance later this week as a bonus track on Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits. With any luck, “Gonna” — the only song on Reloaded‘s tracklist to not top the country chart — will become a Number One hit later this fall, breaking Shelton’s own record for the most chart-topping singles in a row.
Shelton also has a new winter tour in the works, which will kick off roughly two months after The Voice‘s finale and keep the Oklahoma native on the road from February 18th through March 19th.
