Sara Evans Emerges From Hiatus, Preps New Album ‘Words’

New LP will arrive July 21st via Evans’ own label, Born to Fly Records

After a three-year break, Sara Evans is returning with a new album. Words, due July 21st, is her first album of new music since 2014’s Slow Me Down. The country vocalist also released the holiday album At Christmas that same year.

Her new album Words hints at women empowerment and features songs written by 14 different female writers: Ashley Monroe, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, Hillary Lindsey, Sonya Isaacs and Evans herself all contribute. Evans’ teenage daughter Olivia provides backing vocals.

“When I’m listening to a song, it’s the lyrics and the stories they tell that matter most to me,” Evans says in a statement. “Not only is ‘Words’ the title to one of the songs on my album, but in listening to new music for the record, I was always looking for lyrics that moved me and expressed a powerful range of emotions. Women are natural storytellers and I’m proud to have so many amazing female songwriters represented on this record.”

Producer Mark Bright, who oversaw Evans’ Real Fine Place and Slow Me Down albums, returns for the project. Words will be released on Evans’ own label, which she named after one of her best-known hits, Born to Fly Records. The singer plans to tour through the summer with dates from Las Vegas to Rutland, Vermont.
