Songwriter Ruston Kelly Announces 2019 Headlining Tour
With its vulnerable lyricism and stark production, Ruston Kelly’s debut album Dying Star is proving to be one of the most magnetic releases of the year. The songwriter is currently on the road in support of the record, playing two sold-out shows in Los Angeles this week before hitting the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and, as his final trek of 2018, the U.K.
But Kelly isn’t taking much of a break: in 2019 he’ll launch a headlining tour in Texas that winds its way to a conclusion in Nashville. Support acts have yet to be announced, but his 2018 U.S. dates feature songwriter Katie Pruitt. The Wandering Hearts — a co-ed Americana group from London — join him in the U.K. Kelly told Rolling Stone earlier this year that he feels a strong connection with women artists.
“I’ve always, always, always gotten along better creatively with the feminine spirit,” he says. “I think it’s been proven time and time again that the quality songs, the substantial songs that have value, in my opinion, always come from women.”
Kelly, who married fellow songwriter Kacey Musgraves last year, collaborated on the Johnny Cash-inspired album Forever Words earlier this spring.
