Rascal Flatts Ready Christmas Album, Talk ‘My Wish’ ESPN Reboot

Award-winning vocal group has recorded their first holiday LP and a new version of their inspirational hit

Rascal Flatts are recording a Christmas album. The groundbreaking country vocal group, whose influence can be heard in artists from Dan + Shay to Chris Lane, are currently in the studio wrapping up their first-ever holiday full-length.

The trio shared the news with media at a recent industry event. Flatts’ bassist, vocalist and studio mastermind Jay DeMarcus tells country blog Sounds Like Nashville they’ve been cutting holiday chestnuts during Nashville’s heatwave. “It’s a little odd to sing ‘Let It Snow’ in 100 degree weather, but it’s been fun,” DeMarcus says, offering a hint at what the album’s track list will look like.

Singer Gary LeVox says they leaned on the classics. “We talked back and forth about it and a lot of people around Christmastime, that’s all they want is the classics. Of course, we put our spin on it and it’s really exciting,” he says.

Rascal Flatts, who just marked their 16th Number One single with “I Like the Sound of That,” also announced an updated version of their 2006 hit “My Wish.” The inspirational ballad has become the theme song of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which arranges extraordinary experiences for terminally ill children. LeVox, DeMarcus and bandmate Joe Don Rooney are longtime supporters of the organization. The updated “My Wish” dovetails with the 10th anniversary of ESPN’s My Wish series. Hosted by Chris Connelly, the program unites Make-A-Wish children with their favorite athletes.
