Rascal Flatts Prep Cross-Country Rhythm and Roots Tour

Bucking the age-old wisdom that “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” Rascal Flatts are hitting the road this spring, bringing with them an updated version of the stage show they debuted during a pair of residencies in Las Vegas.
The Rascal Flatts: Rhythm and Roots Tour kicks off June 17 in Charlotte, with three months of headlining shows and festival appearances to follow. The tour will allow the country trio to re-adapt their songs to amphitheaters and arenas, after performing in a considerably cozier room — the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino — during their two Sin City residencies. They’ll be bringing a piece of the Vegas performances with them, though, in the form of newcomer Casey Brown, who joined the group’s backup band before the first run of Hard Rock performances in 2015. A multi-instrumental who adds auxiliary percussion, keyboard and electric guitar to the band’s music, Brown has become one of Rascal Flatts’ not-so-secret weapons, even pushing the band into EDM territory. Drummer Jim Riley and multi-instrumentalist Travis Toy round out the Flatts’ summertime lineup, with opening acts Kelsea Ballerini and pop-influenced newcomer Chris Lane also along for the ride.
“Mixing it up in Vegas was really fun,” bandmate Jay DeMarcus writes in a statement announcing the tour, “so we decided to continue with this new change of pace out on the road this summer. We are so pumped because no one has ever seen Rascal Flatts like this before.”
