RaeLynn’s new single “Lonely Call” was the most added song by a female artist at country radio this week. The track, off her stellar album Wildhorse, was written about a breakup she and her now husband Joshua went through early on in their relationship.
“‘Lonely Call’ is a confessional. My WildHorse record is like my diary,” she tells Rolling Stone Country. “It’s so funny to listen back because I was so sad when we broke up, when I hear those lyrics I’m like, ‘That’s exactly how it felt, that’s exactly how it was.'”
Written by RaeLynn with Nicolle Galyon and Rob Hawkins, “Lonely Call” was actually chosen by the singer’s fans as her next single, the follow-up to the stunning divorce ballad “Love Triangle.”
“When I sing it live, they sing it just as loud as they sing ‘God Made Girls’ and ‘Love Triangle,'” she says of her audiences. “They relate to this song, every single word, and I was like, ‘Ok, well, this is easy. We know what song’s gonna be next.'”
RaeLynn is currently on her Rave Tour, along with stops at fairs and festivals throughout the summer.
