D-I-V-O-R-C-E never sounded as fun as it does on the Pistol Annies’ new track “Got My Name Changed Back,” and now make even a trip to the DMV look glamorous in the song’s riotous new music video.
With Miranda Lambert as the ringleader, she and fellow Annies Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe give a tutorial and how to reclaim one’s maiden name with real panache, showing up to the courthouse in glittering dresses and feather boas. Lambert doesn’t pull punches in her testimony, shocking even the judge with her line about her ex-husband’s “road whores,” and next thing you know a party’s broken out with the bailiff popping a bottle of champagne. Their next stop is at the DMV, whered Monroe turns her driver’s license photo into a confetti-laden high-fashion shoot, before the ladies finish off the celebrations by having some cake and damn well eating it, too.
“Got My Name Changed Back,” which was written by Presley and Monroe, was one of three songs released upon the announcement of the trio’s upcoming third LP, Interstate Gospel, their first in five years. Interstate Gospel is due out on November 2nd. That same day, Pistol Annies will appear at Town Hall in New York City for their second of three special performances this fall, which included a stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium last week.
