Jason Isbell and wife/bandmate Amanda Shires will play Pilgrimage Fest 2016.

FilmMagic for Bonnaroo Arts And Music Festival

While the dust settles on Bonnaroo’s sprawl of farmland and campgrounds, a nearby festival — the second annual Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival — is prepping for its own event in late September, adding nearly a dozen artists to an already stocked lineup.

Daryl Hall and John Oates, Jason Isbell, Grace Potter, Anderson East, Preservation Hall Band, the Suffers, Jonny P, the Settles and JD & the Straight Shot will all perform during the two-day event. They join a genre-jumping bill that also includes Beck, Kacey Musgraves, Violent Femmes, Cake and Better than Ezra, whose frontman, Kevin Griffin, helped launch the festival last summer.

With early hours, top-notch food vendors and crowds that hover around 10,000 daily attendees, Pilgrimage offers an alternative to Tennesseans who’re reluctant to attend the four-day, 80,000 capacity Bonnaroo. The setting is similarly family-friendly, with the festival perched on the rolling hills of an old horse farm in Franklin, roughly thirty minutes south of Nashville. More bands are expected to be announced in the coming months.
