‘Nashville’ in Talks for Revival

There’s some hope for Nashville fans yet. Though the show aired its ABC series finale on Wednesday following the network’s cancellation of the series, the studio behind the show has been in talks with several platforms that are interested in picking Nashville up.

As Variety reports, Lionsgate execs told reporters during an earnings call on Thursday that four to five different parties have reached out and that it has been “inbound inquiries coming directly to us, asking about the possibility of moving the show.”

The cast is all in for another season should it find a new home. “We have longterm deals with the cast,” Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s head of TV, said during the call. Lead star Connie Britton recently spoke about her bittersweet feelings following its initial cancellation.

Beggs also discussed how many seasons Lionsgate hopes to secure should they take Nashville to a new venue. “We kind of go one season at a time in our thinking. Our near-term plan is to get another full season,” he said. “These kinds of shows can go forever and ever – obviously that’s our hope and expectation, but we’ve [got] to do it one season at a time. So right now, we’re all about Season Five. So we hope to land Season Five and keep talking about this show for years to come.”

In the meantime, fans across the pond can see some of the cast perform live when the Nashville in Concert tour heads to the UK in June, and there is always the show’s music to tide fans over while waiting to see if Nashville might be revived on another network.
