When Rolling Stone visited the set of the Season Two finale of Nashville, it was clear the actors were a little on edge, wondering if this was the last time they’d ever work together. The sudsy drama was on the chopping block, not only due to sliding ratings but also decreased tax incentives provided by the state of Tennessee. So when news broke May 9th that the show is being picked up for Season Three, several of the show’s actors hit Twitter to celebrate.

Sex, Drugs & Country: Behind the Scenes of ‘Nashville’

“Very thankful for a 3rd season on @ABCNetwork . Deeply grateful to this fine city, this great state, and the loyal fans of @Nashville_ABC !!” tweeted Chip Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne.

“Y’all did it …@Nashville_ABC Season 3. Thanks for your amazing support!” echoed Connie Britton, aka Nashville heroine, Rayna James.

It has also been confirmed that the show will continue filming in its namesake city. Rumors were rampant that Nashville would move to Austin or Atlanta, after it was reported that the show’s $13 million in government incentives to stay in Tennessee would be cut down to about $8 million.

“There’s no way to get the authenticity anywhere else,” show creator Callie Khouri tells Rolling Stone. “From the musicians we have who are actual musicians, to the access to songs, to the way our actors have immersed themselves in the music community – it’s something that couldn’t be achieved if we decided to do it outside of Nashville.”

The third season of Nashville will include 22 episodes, with its first airing in the fall.
