Five-time CMA award nominee Maren Morris will take to the road for her first-ever headlining tour next year. The first 11 dates for the Hero Tour 2017, which kicks off in Boston in early February, have been announced, with more dates to be revealed in the coming weeks. Tickets are available beginning Friday, October 21st.
Morris performed her current single “80s Mercedes” on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show today (watch the video above), a song she’s been singing nightly as the opener of Keith Urban’s Ripcord World Tour. That trek wraps up its 50-plus-city run for 2016 on November 19th in Brooklyn, New York.
In between tour dates, TV appearances and writing appointments, it’s a safe bet that Morris is listening to the radio, the inspiration for her hit debut single, “My Church.”
“I love listening to the radio because there’s something about that discovery, that platform still being the main medium,” Morris tells Rolling Stone Country. “And it is changing with streaming services, but I like to listen to what people are listening to and figure out why is this song so catchy. What is it about it? I really break it down to a science and try to figure out what makes a song particularly memorable. And it’s usually repetition and simplicity. At least with catchy pop songs that take on a life of their own and become huge smashes.”
The Texas native’s impressive haul of first-time CMA nominations include Album (Hero), Female Vocalist, Single, Song (“My Church”) and New Artist of the Year. The 50th CMA Awards will be telecast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 2nd, at 8:00 p.m. ET.
