See Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real’s Strutting ‘Find Yourself’ on ‘Austin City Limits’
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have never performed on Austin City Limits before, but they sure act like they own the place in a sizzling jam of “Find Yourself,” seen in a video from their debut appearance on the PBS program set to air this weekend.
Nelson and his bandmates share the bill for this week’s episode with Kacey Musgraves, so time was tight to squeeze in this seven-minute scorcher — which most recently appeared on the band’s self-titled 2017 album with vocal assistance from Lady Gaga — as part of the broadcast. But it more than stands up on its own, as the Austin native goes into full soul-singing band leader mode, contorting his body and waving his hands through the first verse as he reaches for the notes, then becoming so animated on the second that the camera can barely keep him in frame. He and bassist Cory McCormick even do some synchronized leg drops before getting the audience to sing the final choruses for them.
Watch Nelson and Musgraves — who returns to the show herself for the first time since February 2014 — perform on Austin City Limits Saturday, November 10th, at 8 p.m. CT on PBS.
