With Christmas albums from Loretta Lynn and Chris Young to Garth Brooks and Kacey Musgraves, it felt like nearly every country artist released a holiday record in 2016.
Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood teamed up for Christmas Together, which doubles as the couple’s first ever duets album and features a collaboration with James Taylor. For Lynn, the holiday season brought White Christmas Blue, a gorgeous collection of songs highlighted by the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Musgraves’ A Very Kacey Christmas shows off the Texas native’s diverse influences, from Hawaiian sounds to those south of the border. It also features a quirky duet with Willie Nelson titled “A Willie Nice Christmas.” Young’s It Must Be Christmas also boasts a strong guest list, including Boyz II Men, Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley.
Other notable Christmas albums include Brett Eldredge’s Glow, Jennifer Nettles’ To Celebrate Christmas, Amy Grant’s Tennessee Christmas, the Oak Ridge Boys’ Celebrate Christmas and Rascal Flatts’ The Greatest Gift of All.
