Little Big Town, Aaron Watson Lead Country Albums Release Day: Ram Report

Rhiannon Giddens and the soundtrack to ‘The Shack’ also hit stores on February 24th

Four notable country-music releases anchor a busy albums release day.

Little Big Town’s eighth studio LP The Breaker makes landfall today, and along with the Taylor Swift-penned Number One single “Better Man,” the record features a diverse array of sounds. There’s the bouncy beat of “Happy People,” the nostalgic “We Went to the Beach” and the soulful “When Someone Stops Loving You.” Timed to the release of The Breaker, the Grammy-winning vocal group kicks off their highly anticipated residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium tonight.

On the rootsy end of the country spectrum, Texas favorite Aaron Watson debuts 16 new self-written cowboy songs with Vaquero. It’s the follow-up to Watson’s surprise breakthrough record The Underdog and features his signature Red Dirt sound, as well as some contemporary touches, including propulsive first single “Outta Style.”

Rhiannon Giddens – the Carolina Chocolate Drops singer and duet partner of Eric Church on his “Kill a Word” – releases her record Freedom Highway today. It’s Giddens’ second solo album of socially-conscious folk tunes, including the jovial track “Hey Bebe.” The singer will launch a new tour in April.

Finally, the country-heavy soundtrack album to the movie The Shack arrives in stores. Along with the Tim McGraw and Faith Hill duet “Keep Your Eyes on Me,” the set includes spiritually-minded songs by Lady Antebellum, Dan + Shay, Dierks Bentley and Brett Eldredge.
