Levi Hummon on Writing With Steven Tyler: The Ram Report
At just 24 years old, Levi Hummon is already playing in the songwriting big leagues. His five-track EP features co-writes with Music Row heavyhitters such as Tom Douglas, Jimmy Robbins and Jon Nite. And while he watches his debut single, “Life’s for Livin'” climb the charts, he also has his eye on Steven Tyler’s second country single, “Red, White and You,” as Hummon is a co-writer on it, as well.
“One day my publisher calls me. . . He says, ‘I’m with Steven Tyler right now. He loves the song you started called ‘Red, White and You.’ Come finish it,'” Hummon recalls. “I was like, you have to be joking!”
Hummon finished writing “Red, White and You,” a summertime love song that salutes Tom Petty, with Tyler, Nathan Barlowe and Jon Vella. It will be featured on Tyler’s first solo album, due later this year.
