Kip Moore, Cadillac Three and Country in the U.K.: Ram Report

Country to Country Festival kicks off this weekend in London, Glasgow and Dublin

This Friday, the Country to Country Festival kicks off in the U.K. Known as C2C, the event brings American country music and its artists across the Atlantic for a series of concerts in London, Glasgow and Dublin.

Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church are among this year’s C2C headliners, but some Nashville stars have been making regular trips to the U.K. on their own. The Cadillac Three are increasingly popular overseas, with fans latching on to their brand of rowdy — and distinctly American — Southern rock and country.

“They are so enamored with the idea of three long-haired guys who walk and talk and act like brothers,” Johnston told Rolling Stone Country. “The first two or three songs, they’re just staring at you. Like, ‘Wow, this is actually happening.’ Because they get metal shows and shit over there, but they don’t ever hear people talk like that. It’s like going to the circus for them.”

Kip Moore has also developed a passionate U.K. fan base. He recently had to move his scheduled shows to larger venues to accommodate the demand and often finds himself in post-concert conversations about the stories behind his personal songs.

“When people would come up to me in bars, they were always talking about my lyrics,” Moore says. “I thought it was very interesting that over there, they really made a connection with the passion and the lyrics. They’d start talking to me about them and telling me what they think they meant. They appreciated the singer-songwriter side of things.”

Moore returns to the U.K. next month for a string of dates, while the Cadillac Three are set for the Ramblin’ Man Fair, a festival in Maidstone, England, in July. C2C runs through Sunday, March 13th.
