On January 10th, Kane Brown launched his headlining Live Forever Tour, which stands as the Georgia native’s biggest trek to date. Earlier on Monday, he was on the set of Good Morning America to perform “Good as You,” a track from his 2018 album Experiment.
Though just now seeing its official status as a single, “Good as You” was one of a few songs to precede the November release of Experiment and hint at the variety of sounds contained therein. Penned by Brown with Brock Berryhill, Shy Carter, Taylor Phillips and Will Weatherly, “Good as You” shows off a decidedly more soulful aspect of Brown’s voice, pairing his romantic lyrics with a smoothed-out groove and Stax-style guitar stabs. Brown involves the GMA audience in his performance, asking them to clap along to the rhythm his band members set up. This version differs slightly from the version on Brown’s album, with a lively fiddle solo largely replacing the bluesy electric guitar captured for the original.
On Friday, Brown’s Live Forever Tour rolls on this week, with shows in Independence, Missouri; Southaven, Mississippi; and Norman, Oklahoma. Brown will step back into a supporting role in May, when he joins up with Jason Aldean’s Ride All Night Tour alongside Carly Pearce and Dee Jay Silver.
