Since coming out swinging with her single “Fight Like a Girl” in 2016, eyes have been on country upstart Kalie Shorr, with all signs pointing to a big year for the young Nashville-based singer-songwriter. Just one week into 2018, Shorr has shared official release details for her new EP Awake.
The seven-track collection, out January 26th, features first single “Two Hands,” which was released in October. The EP follows 2017’s collection Slingshot, which included “Fight Like a Girl” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.” To celebrate the release of Awake, Shorr will host a release party at Nashville venue the Back Corner on January 25th.
Shorr had a breakout moment with independently released single “Fight Like a Girl,” which she co-wrote with Lena Stone and Hailey Steele in response to country’s “Tomatogate” controversy. The track made waves upon its release in 2016, both for its empowering message and its poppy hooks. Shorr was named a Rolling Stone Country New Country Artist You Need to Know in February 2017.
She is also part of the Song Suffragettes, a Nashville-based collective of women whose motto is “let the girls play.” Other Song Suffragettes include Lacy Cavalier and Stone, both of whom joined Shorr for a timely cover of Keith Urban’s song “Female” in late 2017.
Shorr hits the road as part of CMT’s Next Women of Country Presents Sara Evans All the Love Tour, beginning February 12th in New York City. RaeLynn will join Shorr and Evans on the trek.
Here is the Awake track list:
2. “Two Hands”
5. “Damn Sky”
6. “Who What When Where Why”
7. “Cool Kids”
