See Kacey Musgraves, Chris Martin Sing ‘Rainbow’ at Global Citizen Festival

Kacey Musgraves took her Coldplay fandom to the next level over the weekend, bringing out singer Chris Martin for a one-off collaboration. The pair shared the stage at Global Citizen Festival‘s Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa, for a sweet rendition of Musgraves’ “Rainbow” from the album Golden Hour.
Musgraves, who once performed a version of Coldplay’s breakout hit “Yellow” for an audience that included Prince Harry, was one of a diverse group of performers at the festival, including Beyoncé, Usher, Femi Kuti and Pharrell Williams. Her band was also on hand to perform (which they do around the 2:47 mark in the full video below), but the “Rainbow” performance features only Martin seated at the piano and Musgraves singing the hopeful song to an ecstatic crowd.
We can’t choose the color of our skin or the means in which we come from but we CAN choose to love, find common ground, & simply help fellow humans in any way big or small. It was an honor to be involved & I loved South Africa 🇿🇦❤️ THANK YOU @GlblCtzn + Chris Martin @coldplay pic.twitter.com/CH7CQAAHnZ

“We can’t choose the color of our skin or the means in which we come from but we CAN choose to love, find common ground, & simply help fellow humans in any way big or small,” Musgraves tweeted, along with a clip of the performance, referencing the festival’s mission of raising money for global issues such as the environment, poverty, water shortage and education.
Musgraves gets a short break at the end of 2018, before firing up the North American leg of her Oh, What a World Tour on January 9th in Indianapolis, Indiana.
