Josh Turner Announces Gospel Album ‘I Serve a Savior’

“Long Black Train” singer’s latest will be accompanied by 90-minute live performance DVD of the new songs

Josh Turner will release his faith-based album 'I Serve a Savior' on October 26th.


Josh Turner, whose 2003 debut single “Long Black Train” was a nod to his gospel-music roots, will release a full-length album showcasing songs of faith next month. Due out October 26th, the South Carolina native’s I Serve a Savior will include hand-picked hymns, new original material and live versions of Turner’s inspirational tunes.”

Also of special note is a live version of “The River (of Happiness),” a song written by Turner’s wife Jennifer and their eldest son, 11-year-old Hampton. The track also features vocal assistance from all four of the Turners’ young sons. Other guests on the forthcoming album include Sonya Isaacs and Grand Ole Opry star Bobby Osborne.

“My faith is the most important thing to me,” Turner said in a release. “I want people to hear the sentiment and heart behind this record. I want them to feel the same inspiration that I felt. I want them to feel that and hopefully they’ll make these songs a part of their life.”

Turner will also release a 90-minute live performance DVD featuring performances of the new songs. Filmed at Gaither Studios, the DVD includes an exclusive interview of Turner with gospel-music legend Bill Gaither. Later this fall, an edited version of the DVD will air as one-hour TV special hosted by Gaither.

Turner’s most recent LP Deep South was released in 2017 and included the Mediabase Number One hit “Hometown Girl.”
