Nearly five years since the release of his chart-topping LP Punching Bag, Josh Turner has set the date for his sixth studio album, titled Deep South. Coming March 10th, the new album features the Top Thirty hit, “Lay Low” and the singer’s current song “Hometown Girl,” which sitting just outside the Top Twenty.

The deep-voiced singer, who has four young sons with wife Jennifer – their youngest, Samuel Hawke, was born in September 2014 – says he has been exploring new ways to expound on his artistry but has also stayed true to his traditional South Carolina roots.

“The basic standards I’ve always held for my music still apply to this record, but I’ve definitely taken a step back and looked at what today’s environment is and how my music can fit into that,” Turner told Rolling Stone Country in 2014. “I don’t follow trends and I’ve always followed my heart, whether my music fits in or not, but I want to be a player in the game and continue to evolve as an artist.”

Turner notes that the new album’s title, “represents hardworking people who find joy in the simple things in life; heritage, church, community, high-school sports, being outdoors. It is a culture.”

The new album is currently available for pre-order, along with specially bundled packages of Deep South-related merchandise.
