Texas sextet the Josh Abbott Band are hitting the road in the New Year on their recently-announced Live It While You Got It Tour. The trek begins at the end of this month with a two-night stint at Houston, TX’s House of Blues.
The band is touring in support of their most recent album, 2015’s Front Row Seat. A concept album that chronicles the entire story of a failed relationship (in this case, it was Abbott’s marriage to his now ex-wife), Front Row Seat was an independent success and hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Independent Albums Chart. Their current single “Amnesia” features an emotional, sci-fi inspired music video.
“Front Row Seat really was representative of what we we’re doing here,” Abbott told Rolling Stone Country last year. “That’s a song by Ruston Kelly, and it’s all about having a front row seat, having this access to someone’s life. Anybody that is married, you have a front row seat to her life and she has one to yours. We’re kind of giving the fans a front row seat, not only to our band but to my story.”
Last month, Abbott and his band covered George Strait’s 2006 hit – and CMA Song of the Year winner – “Give It Away” in support of Strait out of the Box: Part 2, a recently released greatest hits compilation.
