Jon Pardi Plots New Album ‘California Sunrise’

Singer Jon Pardi hails from the state of California, the sunny (and unlikely) land that gave the world two bona fide country music legends in Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. Their pioneering style and influence can be heard in the coarse, steel-and-electric guitar textures of Pardi’s songs like “Head Over Boots,” currently in the country top 20. That song and 11 others will appear on Pardi’s forthcoming second album, fittingly titled California Sunrise and due June 17th.
Pardi recorded California Sunrise with Bart Butler, who also oversaw production of Pardi’s 2014 debut Write You a Song. That album included the top 10 hit “Up All Night,” as well as top 40 singles “What I Can’t Put Down” and “When I’ve Been Drinkin’.” In 2015, Pardi released an EP called The B-Sides, 2011-2014, assembling a handful of his tracks that he had recorded but never included on an album.
Earlier in 2015, Pardi served as the headliner for his own All Time High Tour, which featured Brothers Osborne as the supporting act and sold out venues in Detroit, Boston and Philadelphia, among others. The hard-touring singer has dates lined up through summer, including an appearance at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on album release day.
