Joey + Rory’s Surprise Career Milestone: Ram Report
Joey + Rory scored their first-ever Number One country album this week with the release of Hymns That Are Important to Us. A collection of gospel standards such as “Take My Hand, Precious Lord,” “Softly and Tenderly” and “I Need Thee Every Hour,” the record also debuted atop the Billboard Christian Albums chart.
Hymns That Are Important to Us is the final album by the husband-and-wife duo made up of Rory Feek and Joey Martin Feek. Joey is in full-time hospice care, as she faces a terminal cancer diagnosis. Rory called the album “the one [Joey’s] always wanted to make – filled with the hymns she grew up with.”
Recorded in Nashville last summer, the Hymns project also charted in Billboard’s all-genre Top 200, debuting at Number Four. Joey + Rory are nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 51st ACM Awards, held April 3rd in Las Vegas.
