Playing With Fire, Jennifer Nettles’ second post-Sugarland solo album, will be out May 13th, with some big Nashville names on its credits. Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally are among the powerhouse singer’s co-writers on the project, with the legendary Dann Huff behind the board. But could there also be one of Hollywood’s biggest names on the LP?
“We wrote a song together; we have a collaborative duet,” Nettles explains to Rare Country. “I think it sends a good message and is a ton of fun.”
Nettles declined to comment further on the duet, so it’s unclear whether it will be on Playing With Fire, a future album or Lopez’s next LP — or on a totally different project. The pop star and Shades of Blue actress, currently wrapping her judging duties on the final season of American Idol, just inked a new deal with Epic Records last month. She’ll debut a new single, “Ain’t Your Mama” during Idol‘s series finale on April 7th, but there’s no word yet when a full album will be out.
Meanwhile, Nettles is climbing the charts with the passionate “Unlove You,” the latest single from Playing With Fire. She has also recently been named the lead artist for Big Machine Label Group and General Mills’ Outnumber Hunger campaign, in conjunction with Feeding America, to help provide food for families in need.
