Hear Zac Brown Band Celebrate Their History in New Song ‘Roots’

Band’s new album ‘Welcome Home’ will be out May 12th

Zac Brown Band have made some daring stylistic diversions over the last few years, dabbling in EDM and pop music on both the ZBB album Jekyll + Hyde and through Brown’s side project Sir Rosevelt. For their forthcoming album Welcome Home, though, the band is making it clear that they’re returning to more familiar territory.

Case in point: their appropriately-titled new song “Roots,” a mid-tempo slice of nostalgia that just got the lyric video treatment. The clip begins with footage of the band accepting a Grammy Award before fading into a slideshow of photos and videos of the band in their younger days. That early footage eventually gives way to clips of the band playing stadiums and arenas, serving as a condensed history of their remarkable career to date. “My roots, always keep me grounded,” sings Brown.

“Roots” follows other Welcome Home tracks “All My Best,” “Family Table,” “Real Thing,” and “My Old Man.” The band recorded the album with Nashville super-producer Dave Cobb.

Welcome Home is out May 12th, the same day the band’s Welcome Home Tour kicks off with a two-night stint in Atlanta, Georgia.
