Hear Steven Tyler’s Polished New Country Song ‘Red, White and You’

Aerosmith frontman tips hat to Tom Petty and Georgia nights in up-tempo single

Steven Tyler has dropped another clue about what his forthcoming country debut will sound like and this time he's in a patriotic mood.

Earlier today the Aerosmith leader released "Red, White & You," a laid-back ode to curing the summertime blues with a pretty companion by his side. While it may feel early for Fourth of July references, Tyler is all in on the sunny tune, which pays tribute to another classic rocker, Tom Petty, and American girls.

Co-written by Nathan Barlowe, Levi Hummon, Jon Vella and Tyler himself, and produced by Nashville veteran Dann Huff (Keith Urban, Faith Hill), the song also includes a sly reference to his new label Big Machine, home to Dot Records, which will release Tyler's still-untitled album later this year.

Tyler's first venture into country music was decidedly more low-key: the ballad "Love Is You Name," which favored organic strings over the polish of "Red, White & You."
