Texas singer-songwriter and one-man band Scott H. Biram has been perfecting his primitive, doom-laden country and blues for nearly two decades, recording and touring at a relentless pace. The latest offering from the prolific performer is his new full-length The Bad Testament, which includes the desolate track "Long Old Time."
Biram evokes the haunted bluesmen and country singers of the past on the greasy blues number, singing as a man out of options and trapped by his bad decisions. "It's gonna be a long old time / before I pay for the crime that I done," he sings from somewhere near rock bottom, while menacing blasts of harmonica and metallic strums of electric guitar hurtle onward. In the classic blues tradition, his despair seems to stem from a relationship gone sour and a violent ending for the woman who wronged him.
The Bad Testament is due out via Bloodshot Records on February 24th, and it's available for pre-order now.
