Hear Sara Evans’ Somber New Song ‘I Don’t Trust Myself’

Evans’ new album ‘Words’ is set for release on July 21st

Sara Evans strikes a tone of frustration and uncertainty “I Don’t Trust Myself,” a new song from the “Born to Fly” singer’s forthcoming album Words. Available July 21st, Words also includes the lead single “Marquee Sign.

Written by Caitlyn Smith, Gordie Sampson and Steve McEwan, “I Don’t Trust Myself” imagines someone who finds herself powerless at the smallest suggestion of her lover. She can’t even take his phone call because the sound of his voice triggers something – pretty soon she’ll be hopping in the car to head his direction. “But if I come over baby it’s all over, one thing always leads to another,” she sings, the musical atmosphere heavy and mysterious.

Words marks Evans’ first release as an independent artist after seven studio albums under the RCA banner. The collection also includes contributions by 14 female songwriters, including Ashley Monroe and Hillary Lindsey.
