Last month Parmalee announced 27861, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2013 debut album Feels Like Carolina. Ahead of the album’s July 21st release date, the North Carolina quartet have shared a new tune, “Back in the Game.”
“Back in the Game” is a poppy ode to getting back out there. The crunchy, distorted chorus, which encourages a woman burned by a past relationship to give love another shot, is anchored by electronic drums, an infectious melody, and layered vocal harmonies. Rodney Clawson, Hillary Lindsey and Matt Dragstrem wrote the summer-ready track.
The new song follows “Sunday Morning,” which the band released in late spring, and “Roots,” which came out in 2016. Both of those tunes appear on 27861, a 12-song collection that also features co-writes with Josh Osborne and Craig Wiseman, among others.
Parmalee are currently on tour through early fall, and will visit the PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 6th.
