Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey — and rain makes for no shortage of Luke Bryan songs. “You Look Like Rain” is the country superstar’s latest musical homage to liquid sunshine — while waxing poetic on love and longing, with a throwback sound to his Doin’ My Thing days. Written by Marti Dodson, Bobby Hamrick and Tony Lane, the new song is featured on the Farm Tour…Here’s to the Farmer EP, released last week in collaboration with Bryan’s annual Farm tour.
“I’m a desert dry/And in my thirsty eyes/You look like rain,” croons Bryan with soulful vocals never overpowered by production.
Coming on the heels of more upbeat Farmer tracks like “Love Me in a Field” and “I Do All My Dreamin’ There,” this sentimental love song gets an extra hit of pathos from female backup vocals and an orchestral symphony outro worthy of an Opry encore.
This weekend, Bryan’s Kill the Lights tour wraps up with sets in Utah September 30th and October 1st, before one final show in Las Vegas on October 2nd. The Farm tour kicks off October 5th in Gaston, South Carolina. See Bryan’s full list of tour dates here.
