Florida Georgia Line have released “May We All,” a collaboration with Tim McGraw, as the second single from their forthcoming album Dig Your Roots. The song follows “H.O.L.Y.,” which recently enjoyed a 12-week stretch at the top of Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
Spiritually and thematically it falls in the same territory as “Round Here,” praising the simple joys of small town life and yoking them to a jubilant chorus. Tyler Hubbard sings of the “kinda place where you can’t wait to leave but nobody does, ’cause you miss it too much.” McGraw picks up the second verse, balancing the traditions of fall against the illusions (however exciting) of fame. “May We All” also offers a slight counterbalance to the idea that these idyllic settings are perfect, concluding each refrain with “you learn to fly and if you can’t then you just free fall.” Still, the combination of uplifting melody and upbeat acoustic guitar strums makes that seem like not such a bad fate.
Dig Your Roots is due out August 26th and includes collaborations with Ziggy Marley and the Backstreet Boys. Currently, Florida Georgia Line are headlining the Dig Your Roots tour with Cole Swindell, Kane Brown and the Cadillac Three.
