Carrie Underwood has unveiled another track from her upcoming Storyteller LP, and after a relaxing, laid-back “Smoke Break,” this one’s a four-alarm rocker. Hinting at yet another aspect of the sounds in store from the upcoming album, “Renegade Runaway” uses some Wild West imagery (think tumbleweeds and shootouts) to tell the cautionary tale of a woman who’s up to no good. Meanwhile, the backing tracks are decidedly more 21st-century, with hints of EDM throughout, making this one a natural for pop-crossover airplay. (Listen to the song below.)

The distaff version of Underwood’s equally alliterative 2009 smash, “Cowboy Casanova,” has Underwood warning, “She’s a devil in a satin dress, you don’t even know her hair-trigger’s aimin’ right at your chest.” One of six tunes Underwood co-wrote on the upcoming album, the song unites her with Chris DeStefano and Hillary Lindsey. The same trio also penned the singer’s “Little Toy Guns,” released earlier this year from her first greatest-hits collection.

Earlier this week, Underwood shared “Heartbeat,” the power-ballad collaboration she performs with “Leave the Night On” singer Sam Hunt. The run-up to next week’s release of what will be her fifth studio album, and the weeks and months afterward, will be a whirlwind for the Oklahoma native. The surprise show she performed in Atlanta last month will air in a CMT Instant Jam special premiere on October 17th, as part of two weekends of Carrie-centric CMT programming. She’ll co-host the 49th Annual CMA Awards with Brad Paisley, November 4th on ABC, and she’s also in the middle of planning a 2016 tour.

Storyteller will be released October 23rd.
