Garth Brooks Talks Tour’s ‘2.0 Stage,’ Hints at Nashville Stop: The Ram Report

Fans’ Facebook and YouTube videos of tour prompt icon to change things up on the road

Garth Brooks continues to announce cities one-by-one on his massive world tour with wife Trisha Yearwood, leaving fans all over the globe on the edge of their seats. So when Rolling Stone Country spoke with the superstar couple at this week’s CMA Awards, we couldn’t help but ask about our hometown.

“You can’t have a tour without Nashville,” he told us, then dropping a big hint: “But I’m gonna tell ya, it’ll be the perfect place to end it.”

Brooks and Yearwood took a few weeks off from the road before returning in September with a new stage, set-list and video elements, among other changes. The singers wanted to mix things up for those who travel from city to city to see them — and for those who’ve already had surprises spoiled by the Internet.

“We just entered the 2.0 stage,” says Brooks of his newly made over tour. “We took six weeks off to redesign because of things like YouTube, Facebook and stuff – you see it a lot. So we go back in to recreate it again, and that’s what I love.”

This is Brooks first tour in 13 years, with a ticket sales success rate that rivals any trek in his unparalleled career. He’s adding shows based on demand, playing up to 11 concerts in some cities. And as for that probable residency in Nashville, we shouldn’t hold our breath. Brooks expects the U.S. portion of the tour to run through 2017 — then possibly returning stateside for more shows after a European run.

“I can’t have enough places to play,” the country legend told Rolling Stone back in July. “If we get through with this American leg and there are some cities out there that we’re going, ‘You know what? How do you do a tour without these cities?’. . . then I think we extend the American leg or come back and finish it, for sure.”
