Exclusive: David Nail Announces I’m a Fire Tour

After supporting Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum on their respective tours, David Nail is readying his own fall headlining trek. The powerhouse vocalist, whose latest single “Kiss You Tonight” is currently climbing the charts, announced his I’m a Fire Tour to Rolling Stone Country this morning. Hitting 22 cities, with more to be announced later, Nail’s tour features stops in New York City, Boston and two dates in his native Missouri.

“It’s so much fun to open up for big acts and know that there’s going to be 5, 10, or even 15,000 people out there when you play, but it’s always difficult to only play for 35 minutes,” Nail tells Rolling Stone Country. “I’ve always felt like we benefit so much more when we can really lay back and play an entire 75 to 90 minute show. We can show the range of the past three records.”
That trio of albums — 2009’s I’m About to Come Alive, 2011’s The Sound of a Million Dreams and this year’s I’m a Fire — established Nail as one of country’s most moving singers. As did a cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You,” which went viral and landed on the 2012 EP 1979. It all helped make Nail a consistent draw in some traditionally tough markets for rising country stars, New York City among them. He’ll return to New York on the I’m a Fire Tour with a November 9th stop at Irving Plaza.
“That’s the mecca for me. You move to Nashville to be a country music singer and I’d be lying if I said I thought I’d be playing New York City one day. I don’t think I even realized that country singers went to New York City,” Nail says. “I can remember the first time we played there, it was the most nervous I’d ever been. The label is there, you have a lot of press there, and fans. It’s like playing a showcase in Nashville except that you’re in the greatest city in the world. You try your best to treat it like any other show, but you know damn well it’s nothing like every other show.”
