The iconic pair offered up a private performance to the highest bidder at an auction this week benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. And the winner is apparently a very big fan, forking over $95,000 for the show.
The auction kicked off the annual All for the Hall event in New York, with Gill hosting the stripped-down guitar pull portion of the evening. He was joined by Harris, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Paul Simon for the performance, with all sharing the stage while they took turns singing hits ranging from Simon’s 1969 hit, “The Boxer,” to Underwood’s brand-new “Smoke Break,” accompanied only by acoustic guitars.
Gill and Keith Urban spearheaded the first All for the Hall back in 2009, just steps away from the Hall of Fame in Nashville. Since then it has been held in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles, raising millions for the popular tourist spot.
