Singer Emily West, who charmed TV viewers as a finalist on the most recent edition of NBC’s America’s Got Talent earlier this year, has inked a deal with Sony Music’s Masterworks label. On December 2nd, West will release a two-track digital single on the label’s imprint, Portrait. The single will include her rendition of the Sia hit, “Chandelier,” which proved a fan favorite when she performed it during the TV talent competition. Just in time for the holidays, the single will also include her version of Christmas standard, “Santa Baby.”
A full-length album from the Iowa native is slated for release in spring 2015 and will be the result of a partnership between the artist, Sony and Pledge Music. While the disc is being released on the Portrait imprint, a successful online fundraising effort via Pledge Music to complete the album will enable fans to receive additional personalized bonus tracks and exclusive content.
West moved to Nashville in 2000 when she was 18, scoring a songwriting deal with publishing company Warner-Chappell and later joining the Capitol Nashville roster as an artist. She also sang backing vocals on the 2005 Chely Wright album, The Metropolitan Hotel. After the release of the singles, “Rocks In Your Shoes” in 2008 and “Blue Sky” (featuring Keith Urban) in 2010, she relocated to New York City.
West has also played a drug addict on the ABC drama, Body of Proof and won $25,000 as a contestant on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? In 2010, she helped fellow singer Cyndi Lauper’s team win a “music make over” challenge on Celebrity Apprentice. Lauper returned the favor by singing a duet with her on America’s Got Talent. The competition show’s ninth season was won by magician Mat Franco, with West earning second place.
