Dolly Parton Reveals Pure and Simple Tour Dates

Dolly Parton has revealed plans for the first leg of her Pure & Simple Tour, with more than a dozen dates scheduled through June.
Said to be her most extensive North American tour in 20 years, Parton’s 2016 trek is timed to support the summer release of a new double-disc compilation called Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits. The new album will feature the Country Music Hall of Famer’s iconic tunes along with a few new songs, which she plans to add to her set list.
“The tour itself is called Pure and Simple, mainly because it’s scaled down,” Parton tells Rolling Stone Country. “There’s only four of us on stage. We play different instruments, we sing and we do all those songs that people know, but they’re just not as big — we don’t have a lot of effects on stage or any of that.”
Fourteen dates and cities have been announced so far, with two more stops expected for the tour’s first leg. More dates are expected to be revealed soon, including the country legend’s first concerts on Canadian soil in two decades.
In addition to her new music, Parton’s travels also come on the heels of a huge success with her NBC TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, which attracted 15.8 million viewers and comes out on DVD May 3rd.
