Scott Borchetta’s machine is getting even bigger.
The music mogul’s Big Machine Label Group has teamed with radio conglomerate Cumulus Media for a new record label and live music venture called Nash Icons. While an artist roster has not yet been revealed, the label reports that it will work with popular country stars from the past 25 years.
“There are so many iconic country artists who are still passionate about recording new music and hearing their biggest hits on the radio. Nash Icons will allow so many of these artists to do both,” says Borchetta.
“This is an important line extension for our NASH brand that provides a new multi-media platform for country music’s most prolific artists from the last two decades,” adds Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey.
Nash is the flagship country brand of Cumulus, which includes 68 country radio stations and a new magazine partnership with Country Weekly. Cumulus will add Nash Icons-branded stations to its mix along with a Nash Icons show. The label will work with its artists on new music and live concerts.
This is the second new record label started this year by Big Machine. Borchetta and company announced in March the revival of Dot Records under his label umbrella, in a partnership with Republic Records. Dot was home to Pat Boone, Eddie Fisher, Hank Thompson and Don Williams, among a long list of artists from several genres, back in the Fifties through the late Seventies. Dot has not yet announced the signing of any new artists.
Hitmakers signed to the Big Machine Label Group include Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and the Band Perry.
